I was finally able to see this yesterday afternoon (yay!) and I agree with your review. The color palette the director used was perfect, and to have seen the way these young actors have grown into adulthood and in this movie portray all those emotions -- that was a treat.
I'm very glad they split this into two movies. Any less would have lessened the impact we felt and would have completely killed the story-telling aspect.
