question for my flist - fandom jumping

Hi all!

I've never done this before but I am getting a bit overwhelmed lately. So, my dears, how do you feel about jumping fandoms? Looking at my tags page, I just KNOW I like too much stuff already. But more and more is suggested to me (Twilight, SN). And, knowing myself, once a friend has suggested it and I have looked into it, there is mostly no turning back. But I don't want to abandon my old fandoms especially since new fandoms always go along with buying new stuff and I just can not do that right now.

I'm sure this happened to all of you in some way or other. How do you handle it?

I'm probably better off in English for the time being, but I'm currently working my way through a fic series that's in both English and German, reading them side by side so I can see the way things translate. It's great fun! Voices change between languages; I hear them so differently and it's just mindblowing.

I went "La, la, la, DH never happened" when the seventh book came out, so I don't think I'm in a position to hate on anyone, here. ;-)

Holmes and Watson! Eeeee, once I get all my fic recs over to this journal, there's one series in that fandom -- a Holmes/Watson/Mary triad fic -- that was amazing. OMFG.

Oh I can see how reading the fics side by side can be great fun! That is way better than studying a language in school. I did learn english through reading fanfic and listening to the original movies. I almost ALWAYS HATE the dubbing voices!!! Especially when I know the original actor's voice. I did not have a problem with Watson's German when I watched the movie for the first time in the theater, cuz I didn't know JUde's then. BUT once I had seen all those interviews, listening to his british, I was HOCKED (hooked? lol) and almost couldn't bear the synchro when I went to the theatre for the next time. It was not THAT bad for Holmes but almost.

So, a good Mary/Watson/Holmes story? Ohhhhh link pluease????

It's this series here (http://archiveofourown.org/series/2056). Enjoy!

p.s. It is "hooked" but then, English and its spellings... not logical.

Thanks so much for the link! It took me to a general page...Do you remember the title of the story? I think I already read a while ago "three in a bed" in LJ. I WILL have a look into this asap.

And about the spelling...I am just too lazy to open up my dictionary all the time...tsk tsk

Oh, no, it's the whole series I'm recommending. Rather long, but then, events do take time to unfold.

oh you mean that whole page you sent me the link to is one story? Good to know! And I love long :D:D
