Hi all!

I've never done this before but I am getting a bit overwhelmed lately. So, my dears, how do you feel about jumping fandoms? Looking at my tags page, I just KNOW I like too much stuff already. But more and more is suggested to me (Twilight, SN). And, knowing myself, once a friend has suggested it and I have looked into it, there is mostly no turning back. But I don't want to abandon my old fandoms especially since new fandoms always go along with buying new stuff and I just can not do that right now.

I'm sure this happened to all of you in some way or other. How do you handle it?

Hey! *waving to my newest friend* May I ask what other fandoms you have beside soccer? And may I also ask, how you discovered the Bundesliga, since I read in your profile that you are not from Germany?

hugs and thanks for the answer!

Er, well, actually I'm mostly German. :-D It is merely an accident of birth that I have a United States passport -- to wit, if only my mother had gone to visit Oma a few weeks before her due date! If only! ;-) I grew up bilingual, though I've forgotten far too much, and yes, I had a Bayern München-themed sketchpad aged seven.

Other fandoms? Oh, dear. I think listing them would take forever, but let me point you to my page (http://archiveofourown.org/users/distaff_exile) at the Archive of Our Own for a start. Currently, I'm having affairs with Star Trek (2009) and pundit RPF, but my long-suffering spouses include Harry Potter, the Inspector Lynley Mysteries, and Jeeves and Wooster. I'm equal-opportunity slash/het/gen (they all have their wonders) and don't balk at shipping more than two people.

Möchtest du, dass ich dir lieber deutsch schreibe? Bilingual sounds cool!!! I almost feel like I am now. Denn ich denke manchmal schon englisch :D

Harry Potter? War auch mal ne ganze Zeit mein Hobby! I've read all seven books and lots of FF. Came into the fandom at Order of the Phoenix, because I am a Gary Oldman fan too. Sirius is not dead and yes, I do pair him with his Godfather...(Don't hate me now lol)

I visited your page.

And I just decided, that I won't write a fic in German ever again lolol

Current obsession: 09 Holmes and Watson as you may have noticed :D

I'm probably better off in English for the time being, but I'm currently working my way through a fic series that's in both English and German, reading them side by side so I can see the way things translate. It's great fun! Voices change between languages; I hear them so differently and it's just mindblowing.

I went "La, la, la, DH never happened" when the seventh book came out, so I don't think I'm in a position to hate on anyone, here. ;-)

Holmes and Watson! Eeeee, once I get all my fic recs over to this journal, there's one series in that fandom -- a Holmes/Watson/Mary triad fic -- that was amazing. OMFG.

Oh I can see how reading the fics side by side can be great fun! That is way better than studying a language in school. I did learn english through reading fanfic and listening to the original movies. I almost ALWAYS HATE the dubbing voices!!! Especially when I know the original actor's voice. I did not have a problem with Watson's German when I watched the movie for the first time in the theater, cuz I didn't know JUde's then. BUT once I had seen all those interviews, listening to his british, I was HOCKED (hooked? lol) and almost couldn't bear the synchro when I went to the theatre for the next time. It was not THAT bad for Holmes but almost.

So, a good Mary/Watson/Holmes story? Ohhhhh link pluease????

It's this series here (http://archiveofourown.org/series/2056). Enjoy!

p.s. It is "hooked" but then, English and its spellings... not logical.

Thanks so much for the link! It took me to a general page...Do you remember the title of the story? I think I already read a while ago "three in a bed" in LJ. I WILL have a look into this asap.

And about the spelling...I am just too lazy to open up my dictionary all the time...tsk tsk

Oh, no, it's the whole series I'm recommending. Rather long, but then, events do take time to unfold.
